From the first day that the Abha Light Health Centre in Eastleigh Nairobi opened its doors in July 2002 it has has a constant flow of patients from the surrounding slums of Mathare Valley and Eastleigh.
Most of the patients can't afford to pay for their treatment. While about 75% of the patients are HIV+, the clinic attends all patients freely. Its our policy is to never turn away a patient for lack of fees.
At the Kariobangi clinic, we see many patients. There we have larger facilities to include naturopathy, reflexology and herbal therapies along with homeopathy.
We also have an HIV-support group of about 30 patients who come together for their own support. The have been working together to help each other by creating their own round-robin self-sufficiency fund. Each week every member adds into the kitty whatever they can, Ksh 50-100 (£1). Whenever one of their members needs some assistance the money is there to help them.
However at this time there are no sponsors to support the expansion of this endeavour.
Some Cases Treated with Homeopathy & Natural Medicine
HIV+ Patient
January 2005. WM, male, 27 years old is suffering from third stage HIV, bordering on full-blown AIDS. He exhibits all the "usual" signs of coughing, bouts of diarrhea, loss of appetite, weight loss and skin rashes. Its at this point that he's advised to go on conventional triple-drug treatment (anti-retral viral therapy or ARTs). He's not enthusiastic for these drugs as he's seen they have a great number of side-effects.
We put him on homeopathic treatment and advises him for naturopathic & nutritional interventive therapy as outlined in the book Great Health, Naturally! Part 1. Within 10 days, most symptoms have receded and six weeks later WM is feeling energetic and fine. By July 2005 WM has gained weight, his skin is clear, his cough is gone and his CD4 count is up.
Another HIV+ patient
BA, female, 32, came to Juja Road 31 July 2004. Her husband passed away win 1998. She is alone with her three children. When she came to us she was suffering chest pains and coughing. She had burning pains and was continuously coughing up phlegm. These were worse in the morning but she was experiencing pain all the time. She was suffering headaches, body pains in her joints and feeling cold all the time. She had pains in her stomach, loss of appetite. She wasn't eating properly. She had been losing weight for the last 3 months.
Within 6 weeks of homeopathic treatment, nearly all of B's pains subsided. She is not suffering any more chest pains. She regained her appetite, started gaining weight and was able to return to work.

Elephantiasis patient
Generally elephantiasis is considered incurable, often getting worse as time goes by.
C.W. came to the clinic manager of our Juja Road Free Clinic, in February 2005.
She reports that leg started swelling in 1997 when she was pregnant. It reduced immediately after childbirth. Five months later it began again to swell after a visit to her home village. The leg is scaly, dry, cracked and with oozing of sticky fluid, the skin is hard.
By mid-July the skin has begun to clear and heal, the swelling reduced.
Hole in the Heart Baby
In August 2005, Baby J, 8 months, arrived with her mother screaming and crying as was the usual since birth at the Juja Rd Free Clinic. Diagnosed with a "hole" in the heart (faulty left ventricle valve), the hospital had advised an operation. Also there was some white membrane covering the eyes. The mother was frantic as there seemed to be no hope to raise the money for the heart operation. It also appears as if the child will be blind or vision impaired for life.
Two weeks after beginning homeopathic treatment, the child is restful, contented and quiet. The eyes have also started discharging some matter. We are still waiting to see if homeopathy will assist in the natural healing of the heart condition as well as the eyes.
Rheumatic joints patient
L first came to us in September 2003. She had been suffering severe joint pains for 4 years. This was always made worse whenever she touched cold water such as stepping in a puddle, washing her clothes or taking a bath. Eventually it came out that she had nightmares of drowning and that she feared water due to having watched a relative drown in her childhood. According to homeopathic analysis and prescription she was given an appropriate remedy. Two weeks after beginning treatment, L's joint pains had disappeared.
